We haven’t really checked the galaxy to see if our gift ideas are the best, but we promise to do pretty well here on earth.
Choosing a gift can be a pleasure or a chore, a dream or a nightmare.
“If only I knew what she needed or wanted,” we might think. And, yet, if we think back on our favorite presents of all time, chances are that they weren’t things we would have thought of for ourselves. Part of the fun of receiving a gift is the utter surprise of receiving something that you had no idea to expect. Perhaps that’s why the annual Christmas tie or the five gallon bottle of perfume has become such a laughable cliche`. I gave my Dad the same brand of shaving lotion every year from the holiday store set up just for kids my age.
So let’s try to be creative, together. Put some thought–and some surprise–back into the whole giving (and getting) experience. Relax and have fun with it!
