Green Washing Can Beat the Blues

It’s a great idea to try to be as eco-friendly as possible, but it can be difficult to combine your conscience with cleaning convenience and efficiency. It’s all very well being Green, but not so attractive if your wardrobe or sheets smell or haven’t been washed properly. That’s particularly true with kid’s clothes, which do tend to get more wear and tear and more mud and dirt than the commuter-stained clothing grown-up’s might wear.

Eco gift ideas that help solve that dilemma come no better than a product called eco balls. Voted one of the “Ten Best Green Household Products” by The Independent no less, eco balls deliver great cleaning results and environmentally friendly washing. They effectively replace washing detergents of any kind, but still produce excellent laundry results.Lasting for as much as 1,000 washes, the hypoallergenic eco balls produce ionized oxygen that activates water molecules naturally and allows them to penetrate deep into the fabric fibres to lift the dirt away.

The eco balls are also antibacterial, effectively killing Escherichia Coli and Staphylococcus Aureus.   Eco gifts like these are not only chemical-free and environmentally friendly, they also prove that being cognisant of the environment can go hand-in-hand with saving money too!Using them will save a remarkable amount of money when compared to leading washing powder brands.  They also soften clothes without needing fabric conditioner, so you can save money there too.The eco balls operate just as effectively on a cold water wash, reducing electricity costs and water bills to save even more hard cash as well as the planet.

Once they are cleaned to your satisfaction, the washed and died clothing can be stored in equally eco-friendly circumstances.  A laundry basket made from seagrass or bamboo will keep your clothes conveniently ready for ironing or wearing in a container that will allow them to breathe naturally and is made from eco friendly materials as well as being sourced from co-operatives supporting fair pay and rights for workers.

It’s Only October, But Christmas Is Edging Closer and Closer

This might be a really unpopular post because I’m bringing it up so early, but the reality is that Xmas is not all that far away. Before you know where you are, there will be just a couple of weeks left until Christmas and the panic would have set in. People will slowly start to break out in a cold sweat and worry about what they should be buying for everybody.

Last year I had plenty of time to do my Christmas shopping and it was lovely. I did not have that last minute rush to the shopping centre and I could take a leisurely walk around the town with no hassle and no crowds. Unfortunately this year I am working full time, so I need to be totally organised.

The very worst part about Christmas is trying to find out what the family actually want me to buy them. I really do not mind spending money if I know what to buy, it does annoy me though when you trudge round the shops, wondering what they would like and coming home with nothing.

This year I would love to try and do a bit for the environment so have decided to look into Eco Christmas gifts. I love to be able to help others and the planet whilst doing some shopping, and isn’t Christmas the best time to do this?

There is such a vast choice of gifts available, and whilst looking I have also managed to source my tableware so if nothing else I know my Christmas dining table will be looking fabulous this year!.

My husband is never sure what he should be buying me, so I have dropped a few hints about ethical vases. That way he really does not have any valid excuses not to buy me flowers throughout the year. It doesn’t hurt to give them a little nudge in the right direction occasionally.

Well I digress, I must return to my shopping lists and see what Great Aunt Gladys wants this year – it will no doubt be the same as every other year – pink fluffy slippers!
