There was a time in the housing market that any home would sell.It was actually like a feeding frenzy for most buyers. They could not get enough houses to purchase so it made it seem like any thing could just actually sell.Well, at that particular time of the housing boom, anything could sell easily. But of course, not anymore.  Nowadays you really need to prepare your home to sell if you want to compete in a down market.

First of all, you need to start realizing it is not your home anymore, if you really want to sell your home. What I exactly mean by that is prior to your starting to prepare your home let go. As a home staging Orange County expert I tell all my clients that if they let go they can decorate their home to appeal to more people.Because they won’t make enough of an effort to make it more appealing if people still think of the home as theirs.

So the next thing they need to do follows along the first step and that is to get rid of things you like.  In other words all those personal artifacts or things you decorated your home with have to go.They might of look good to you but definitely to a majority of the people it won’t.  I tell the clients of my home staging Ontario service they need to help buyers imagine it as theirs.Your personal stuff, well, does not help them do that.

Finally, you need to clean your home thoroughly. As we live in a home for so many years, definitely, many things start to pile up.  We don’t notice it but our homes become to look crowded.  As an experienced interior designer Orange County company I know people want spacious homes.  Well the clutter in your home won’t give a buyer that feeling.

So those are a couple of helpful tips you have to do to make your home ready to sell.If you are definitely able to do it then you are going to have a good advantage when selling your home.

Soften the feel of Your Home With Area Rugs or Carpet

November 8th, 2009

The best decorated homes depend on a spread of flooring materials to ensure comfort and beauty.  Some areas need hard surface flooring for logical reasons and others, like bedrooms, need carpeting or area rugs for warmth and comfort.  Rooms that have hard surfaced flooring can be softened with area rugs.  Carpeting with padding under it can be employed over less than excellent hard flooring, to make a room look new again.  Carpet and area rugs are softer to stroll, sit or play on, so many families with youngsters like them.  Carpets and area rugs are more easy to change when a new look is needed.

Wall to wall carpeting is purchased by the yard from six or 12 foot wide rolls making a virtually uninterrupted floor.  Some carpeting even comes in thirteen or fifteen foot wide rolls.  Carpet installers use seam tape and a heat iron to seam lengths of carpet together to form a continuing floor.  Carpet comes in many forms including plush, level loop, Berber, Berber plush, cut pile or sculpted.  You can get carpet tiles with backing attached to lay in an area rug or whole room configuration.  Carpet is a particularly flexible flooring material.

Once you make a decision to use carpet in your room, you need to choose the one that is best for your wishes.  Carpet comes in numerous different materials for different uses.  After you have decided on the look, or pattern carpet you need, consider the fiber it will be made from.  You can get carpets made from natural fibers like cotton, wool or silk.  Many man-made fibers are used in carpeting, including nylon, acrylic, rayon, polyester and more .  Carpeting also comes in blends of different fibers and in recycled fibers.  Carpet comes in different price ranges and qualities to meet different budgets and requirements.  Shop at a flooring store that has well trained sales pros to help you select the best carpet for you at the best price, and can then install it for you.  Look for a good guaranty that covers both the carpet and installation.  Get the best carpet your budget will make allowance for the highest quality and durability.

Some rooms have gorgeous hardwood or ceramic floors, but need something more.  Area rugs are the perfect solution for rooms that need a softer area for children to play on.  Area rugs can be like a chunk of art accenting a room and adding color and design to a lac luster space.  Area rugs can be employed to outline conversation areas in large rooms.  They can make a cold feeling space seem cozier.  Area rugs come from many places around the planet, each with it’s own designs and character. They come in many different fibers and mixes depending on the price and quality.  This flooring comes in standard sizes that you opt to fit the area you would like to cover in your home.  No installation crew needed and you can move area rugs from room to room or house to house.

During a Recession, Affordable Area Rugs may be an Option

July 13th, 2009

Many of us do not realize that something as simple as discount area rugs could revitalize the economy. Making smart purchases is what keeps the economy healthy, but only buy items if they fit into your current budget. The most important thing is to continue shopping but make smart decisions. Purchasing quality home items does not need to be expensive, and being surrounded by elegance at your residence will increase feelings of well-being in these tough times.

A great example of an elegant item for your residence is the classic area rug. For centuries, these wonderful items have turned houses into homes with their simple beauty. They are an easy way to spruce up and home office or living area with little money or effort. Be sure to purchase a quality product to ensure years of good use and elegance. The purchase of a second-rate area rug may cause disappointment since they will appear used and run down faster. Keep in mind that if the rug you purchase is inexpensive, does not mean it is low-quality. Look online for retailers of inexpensive, high-quality area rugs.

Many people have the misconception when decorating a room that they need to start with the flooring. This is not true! An area rug is an easy, inexpensive way to change the look and feel of a room, even if nothing else is changed. There are online sites that offer a huge selection of discounted high-quality rugs to fit in any space and match any existing decor. A quality rug costs less than carpet remnants in some cases, and many cannot tell the difference! You can easily impress guests by placing a beautiful rug in an entry way. Even in these rough economic times, your home can still feel beautiful and inviting.

After an area rug is chosen and placed in the perfect spot in the house, a little upkeep and care will ensure it will last despite your son’s baseball cleats or your husband’s Red Wing boots constantly pounding it. They come in a wide variety of materials, and are simple to maintain. Vacuum your area rugs every week even if it appears clean. If the rug is located in a high-traffic area, have it cleaned by a professional every three to six years. Buy under padding to reduce friction and unnecessary wear to the rug.

Making smart purchasing decisions is a good way to fuel the economy and help you in your daily life. Both simple and ornate rugs are one of those smart decisions. They will last for years, and make your residence feel like a home.
