The Maytag, Electrolux, and Amana Refrigerator brands all possess a certain value that would be tough to duplicate. Top name brands have long since established their ability to deliver excellent models known for their reliability and long life. Yet, we sometimes do not look at the great benefit such a seemingly simple appliance delivers.
Refrigerators are one home appliance that we really take for granted. They seem to need no maintenance and work with no problems and don’t even take up much room. We probably never think about what things would be like if we had no refrigerators or their service weren’t so reliable. When you look at refrigerators through the lens of history, we would see that they’ve only been on the human landscape for a blip of time. It was just a few decades ago that ice boxes were widely used. Before the Amana Refrigerators become widely available, ice was delivered regularly to homes for placement inside the compartment of a non-electrical refrigerator. The ice was used to keep the contents of the box cold and this worked well until the ice melted.
While this might seem archaic, but it’s a huge improvement over what was done before that! Bags and bags of salt were used to preserve meat. Most people today would quickly become vegetarians after trying this unsanitary and laborious process. We really shouldn’t take any home appliances for granted, much less the refrigerator. Fortunately, we don’t have to deal with the health hazards that poor refrigeration of food is know to cause. These kinds of problems are now a part of history, unless we make the mistake of taking the reliability of the model we purchase for granted.
That is an absolute no-no when it comes to being a wise consumer of refrigerators…..
ALWAYS avoid the mistake of taking all refrigerator manufacturers for granted. Some of the manufacturers deliver on the expectations of consumers more frequently than others. This is something that is nearly impossible to ignore, and you shouldn’t ignore it, when looking at all the refrigerator models that are available. Most of these refrigerators look great. Some have a sleek design and are visually appealing. While there’s nothing wrong with buying an attractive refrigerator, whether it is Maytag or Amana Fridge, you should first choose one that has functional value. You don’t want to have to pay for repairs as soon as the warranty runs out on a great looking, but unreliable refrigerator!
There are a variety of models that are truly excellent. They are a symbol of the outstanding benefit that the development of such a home appliance represents to the technological and industrial age. If you think this is an overstatement, just take a look at history and what life was like before the refrigerator.
