Green tea is excellent for you. It is a fact. Recently a researcher did a study where he exposed a bunch of tiny minnows to very radioactive substances. They all should have died of cancer in days. However, they stayed alive. What was the reason they survived? They were living in green tea and not water.

You may not like the fact that they hit little minnows with radioactive substances. Probably not many people do. However, the results are favorable. This kind of news makes me want to bathe in green tea everyday or at least drink about a gallon or two a day.

So many people are now realizing the healing powers that are in green tea. Resulting in more and more products containing green tea are out now. You can find green tea in all kinds of different candies and sodas. That is just in addition to the numerous products that have green tea extracts in them.

However, despite the green tea mania, one area has not gone green tea crazy. The skin care arena. Manufacturers seem to be all talk and no action. What consumers do not realize is that the same things that make green tea great for your body and inner organs also make it an ideal for your largest organ: your skin.

Anti-oxidants are packed into green tea. When you drink it, the antioxidants will do many things, like boosting your immune system. When you rub it on your face, the antioxidants contained in the green tea extracts will start to protect your exterior also.

Your skin will love anti oxidants. They keep free radicals away from you. These free radicals are molecules that are in the air and will assault your skin causing wrinkles. Sometimes, they can damage skin cells so much that they actually become cancerous.

Green tea skin care does more than you are aware of. When green tea extracts are used in your natural skin care regimen, they will revitalize your skin. They ease inflammation and smooth out discolorations caused by the environment or using the wrong skin care products. You will be doing yourself a favor by adding a green tea product to your skincare regimen. Whether it is a lotion, a wrinkle cream, a serum or a spritzer, you will soon be glad that you made green tea a priority in your beauty regimen.

Skin Care Products Fakes and Frauds

Science and technology have come so far in skin care products. Cosmetic and beauty research is an interesting arena because so much folkloric knowledge is relevant. As a result, it can be difficult to determine exactly what works and what doesn’t work. The best skin care products use science, technology, testing and conventional wisdom to develop effective products. But, many unscrupulous skin care creators simply take advantage of people’s willingness to believe that a product should work because it has a good name or says that it is “natural” on the label. In reality, many “natural” skin care products are anything but natural. In fact, some of these products can actually cause serious and chronic skin problems. Here are some things to look out for that will cause a big problem when it comes to your skin care routine:

* Check for concentrations - Some of these products contain extremely high concentrations of natural compounds that are not particularly good for you. For example, high concentrations of bismuth aren’t good in any type of makeup. Bismuth is a mineral and is arguably natural. However, it must undergo lots of chemical processing to achieve a cosmetic form. This processing can cause allergic reactions in quite a few people.

* Look out for synthetic colors - Heavily dyed products most often contain lots of artificial colors. In addition, they may need additional chemicals to maintain the color and the freshness of the skin care products. Many people group artificial colors and fragrances together. In reality, however, artificial fragrances are much less of an issue because they often are derived from natural extracts and then chemically processed. They come in such low concentrations that they are often not major allergens. (There are always exceptions to this.) Bright blues and yellows, however, usually indicate serious levels of preservatives and chemical dyes.

* What is the size of your mineral makeup powder - If your mineral skin product boasts microscopic particles, back off. While mineral makeup is great for your skin, it is not necessarily ideal within. Microscopic particles (nanoparticles) can be soaked up by your skin. This may result in allergic reactions. Additionally, mineral makeup is not tested for the effects of epidermal absorption. As a result, there is not a whole bunch of information about the long term effects of this type of unintended absorption. Mineral makeup with regular sized particles cannot be absorbed like this.

Skin care products come in many forms and fashions. We all have our personal favorites. This should not cloud your judgment about the quality of your skin care products. Always keep an eye out for the impostors and make sure that your skin care product regimen is the best for you.

Knowing if Labels are Lying on “Organic Skin Care Products”

Many people find organic skin care mysterious. We all know that things that are organic are supposed to be good for us. However, most of us do not really know exactly what the word organic means. We tend to assume that organic skin care is good simply because it is natural. This is partly true, but there is far more to organic skin care than natural ingredients alone. An organic skin care investment will get the best results if you understand what makes your product work.

By law, the word organic means that a product contains 95 percent organic ingredients. Something that is organic contains carbon. Therefore, a product that contains 95 percent of anything that is carbon-based can be legally labeled organic. In terms of skin care products, this means a petroleum and petroleum-based product can easily be labeled organic. You need to understand this so you can look out for ingredients like methylparaben, a suspected carcinogen that is petroleum-based and plays a role in many skin care products. Probably before now, you had no idea anything labeled “organic skin care” might be a crude oil derivative or a health threat. As a result, you need to be very careful to reconcile your interpretation of organic skin care with the legal definition before you buy.

To make sure that you are getting organic skin care that meets all your requirements, take a few minutes to identify what you are looking for. For most people, natural, unaltered, healthy ingredients are their main focus. (You have to understand that there will be some preservatives and processing compounds that need to be in there for health reasons.) Traditionally, most people think organic products are related to “green” products. They want to know their purchase did not harm the environment.

In the end, reading the label is the best way to get the product that you want. Look for compounds that have been derived from other things. For example, “Cocamide-DEA derived from coconut oil.” This can be claimed to be “natural” or “organic” because it is a compound that comes from a natural substance. However, the only way to get it is to process it using a known carcinogen. Sadly, derived ingredients are unlikely to be organic in the way that most of us think of organic.

You should also factor in water content when you are determining how organic a product is. In many cases, a 75 percent organic product will have nearly 75 percent water. In general, you should only consider entirely organic skin care products to be truly organic.

You can reap incredible rewards from using truly organic skin care products. Your skin can benefit greatly from natural elements. The best way to get the most value from organic skin care is first to be sure that you have invested in truly organic products.
