As we approach the winter seasons it is going to bring rain and snow. And that would be the time when we would notice some problems with our roof.As long as the weather is fine no problem shows up on our roofs. But as soon as the weather becomes harsh the problems start showing up. Well when that happens the problems with a bad roof is more than just leaking water.  In this article we will look at the problems that a leaking roof can cause.

So obviously the first problem that can happen when your roof leaks is water will get in your house.  There are many problems that this will cause.  In my roofing San Diego company I have seen ruined furniture.  Or I have witnessed wood furnitures getting damaged because of the water. This is the time when it is obviously not just the water that is getting into your house that is the problem.

The next problem that I have seen when a roof starts to leak in my roofing Carlsbad company is weakened ceilings.  A badly leaking roof I have seen cause whole ceilings to collapse. This would not be a good thing because of the other damages it can cause.  It can break things when it falls and of course is very expensive to repair.

The final problem I Have seen a leaky roof cause in my Encinitas roofing company is mold. This might be the worst problem that can be caused by a leaky roof. This is not saying that the previous problems are not as bad as this one.  But this starts to now cause health problems. When you breathe in molds this can be the cause of a lot of brething problems which can be fatal if not attended to.

So as you can see a leaky roof is more than just water coming into your home. It brings many more problems than it is worth. So make sure to get your roof fixed before the harsh weather season comes.

Inspect the roof when buying a house

Even during bad economic times like what we are experiencing now people are still buying houses. People sometimes overlook the roof and they don’t bother to check it as long as the interior of the house is nice. This would be a bad thing to do.Because more expenses will come to you if the roof of the house that you just bought is damaged and already needs to be replaced.

So when buying a house make sure that is one area that you have inspected by a good inspector. Not just any inspector that is available out there. But someone who is trained to inspect and spot damages on a roof. Because if you pick someone that doesn’t know what too look for this could cost you a lot of money.  I have seen many upset homeowners as clients in my roofing San Diego company.Believe me, these house owners are there in my office not because they planned to.They only bought a house for them to enjoy. But when they moved in the house the discovered that their roof is leaking.Or what’s worse were cases when they found out that they needed to replace the roofs immediately.

So what could you actually do to prevent this from happening?  Well sometimes it might be worth it to hire a roofer to do the inspecting.  We have done this several times for prospective homeowners in our roofing Oceanside company.Because a roof inspector knows what to do if you think about it.  They know a lot more about roofs then your average home inspector. This can help you in spotting problems with your roof. It is definetly worth hiring a professional especially if you are dealing with something that could cost thousands of dollars.

When buying a house you could have a beautiful home.  But with roofs you never know.It might have a lot of leaks caused by missing pieces.  It could have damages from the weather. We have seen it all in our roofing Rancho Santa Fe company. If you are in that kind of situation then you must inspect the roof very carefully. Doing that little action before purchasing a home can turn into a lot of money saved.

Decisions regarding your old roof

There will come a time when you will need to get a new roof.  When that time comes you will have a couple of choices.  You can install the new roof over the old roof.Or you can take off the old roof and put a brand new install of a fresh new roof. This article will examine those two ways.

So when you are choosing between the two ways there are only two factors to consider.  Those factors are price and appearance.  I am going to share from my experience running my roofing Escondido company.

First choice of installing the new roof over the old.  When you do this you will have lumps and bumps on the roof.  Some folks don’t mind it.But you must know if it something you will or not.Ask the roofing company for some recent jobs they did that you can take a look at.Then you will be able to tell if that look will bother you.Understand that if this is the way you choose you can save a lot of money.  So you have to consider if it is worth it.  We have done it both ways with my Vista roofing company and have had customers love both ways.

So that brings us to the second point which is price.  Whether you mind the lumps and bumps or not you have to consider if price is a factor. So to put it another way, are you willing to pay more to have a better look.Or will that extra money be important to you?  If you do you have to seriously see if the look will bother you with bumps.  Many clients in this economy have opted to save money from what I have experienced in my roofing Encinitas company.

As you can see it really comes down to how good you want it to look.  And are you willing to pay for that look.If you are in need of money pick the first way. Especially if you aren’t so picky about the looks.
