George Graham was remembered as the “father of the chronograph”, he was also the brains behind inventions such as the dead beat cylinder escapement, the first wall clock chronograph and the mercury pendulum. Dedicated to the mechanical art, Graham is in high regard today as a great contemporary watch brand. These “wrist machines” as they are known, are made by the Swiss whilst having the backing of a quality British brand name.

Graham watches are reworking and rethinking the core meaning of a mechanical sports watch. They are masculine designs bristling with an agressive military theme. Grahams appearance just over a couple of years ago has resulted in the creation of two of the most iconic watches to be produced in recent times. First to arrive was the Graham Chronofighter.

GRAHAM CHRONOFIGHTER Founder and CEO, Eric Loth looked back to the 1st and 2nd World Wars. Particularly at the British RAF bombers who wore similar preceision time keepers strapped to their wrists. In order for the bombs to be dropped precisely it was critical that they were so at accurate, pre-determined intervals. The huge chronos they wore had gigantic trigger mechanisms which allowed them to control the watch with gloved hands.

The Graham Chronofighter features a large trigger point that in turn works the co-axial chrono pusher that is set in the watch crown. The chrono on the watch can easily be set back to zero with the use of the pusher that is located above the trigger.

Graham do not compromise and the materials used for the Chronofighter Oversized Commando with the likes of titanium, ceramic and carbon fibre all featuring. The materials and the way in which they are used is an essential part of how Graham watches are made. The clasps for instance are made from ceramic as these parts have heavy wear. The use of titanium for the case is to keep it lightweight. The use of forged carbon for the bezel and steel in the trigger area is to strengthen these much used points.

Graham Swordfish Grillo Alarm GMT
This watch has the first optical big date. This is an updated design of the watch that took the watch industry by storm in 2005, the Swordfish.

Whilst maintaining its dipping lugs, intricately built case and skillfully textured crowns, this new model sets itself apart with its single eye to magnify the date significantly, leaving more than enough space for the GMT function and the new alarm function.
